About Me
Hi, I’m Tessa Townsend! I grew up in Dalton, GA, a small town where everyone knew each other. After high school, I started college at Chattanooga State, playing volleyball for my freshman year. In 2022, I decided to transfer to the University of Tampa, ready to explore new places and soak up the beach and sunshine I’d always loved. Moving to Tampa was a big change—from a place everyone knew to a school few back home had even heard of! I had to start fresh, making new friends and balancing a whole new schedule.
Since transferring, I’ve gotten involved in Kappa Alpha Theta, Global Ambassadors, and the American Marketing Association, which has helped me connect with new people and make amazing friends. I also love traveling, and I had the incredible chance to study abroad with Semester at Sea, where I visited 11 countries worldwide and added another 3 through independent travel!
Outside of that, I enjoy working out, drawing, and picking up new skills like baking bread and crocheting. I’m always up for a beach day with friends or trying something new.
Travel
I’ve always loved traveling with my family—some of my favorite memories are from those trips. Ever since I was little, my mom would share stories about her study-abroad experience, and I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps. In spring 2024, I had a fantastic opportunity to study abroad with Semester at Sea, traveling to 11 different countries and visiting 12 unique ports. After the semester ended, I was fortunate enough to travel with my mom and sister through three more countries, where I got to experience both the unique differences and surprising similarities across cultures.
Baking
I love discovering new recipes and trying them out. Being health-conscious, I focus on clean eating, which led me to start making sourdough—something I find really stress-relieving. I also enjoy learning to bake new things, and each time I make something, I get to share it with friends, making it a fun experience for all of us!
Marketing
What excites me about marketing is the blend of creativity and problem-solving. Switching my major to Marketing was one of the best decisions I’ve made, as it’s helped me discover a field where I can turn ideas into impactful strategies. Each class I’ve taken has deepened my interest and fueled my excitement to grow within the industry.
